DALSTON, (Cumberland) on the S. side of Carlisle, near the r. that runs to it, was a barony united, by Hen. II. to the
forest of Englewood, whereof it continued a member, till Hen. III. disscredited it, and gave or sold it to the then Bp. of
Carlisle, whose successors in that See have enjoyed it ever since; but the old mansion-house, with the manor of Dalston-
PARVA, are, to this day, in the possession of the Dalstons.
