DEVINGTON-LITTLE, (Kent) or DEVINGTON-COURT, just by the former, was for several generations the manor and seat of the family of the Es. of Athol, Lds. of Chilham in this neighbourhood, till it passed, by marriage, to that of Hallham; and by the same means to John Lewknor of Sussex, who alienated it to Mr. Jam. Dreyland; by whose daughter it came to Sir Tho. Walsingham, whose grandson of the same name sold it to Mr. Simons; from whom it came thro' several hands to sergeant Twisden.
