EFREMONT, (Cumberland) 222 cm. 287 mm. from London, stands on the banks of a little r. that falls into the sea, near the
promontory of St. Bees. It had a castle on a hill, which with the barony bel. anciently to the Piercys Es. of
Northumberland. 'Tis a Bor. T. and sent members to Pt. once in the R. of Edw. I. but never after. It has a Mt. on S. and a
yearly Fair.
