FLAXLEY, (Gloucestershire) in the forest of Dean, had formerly an abbey; the manor of which, after the Diss. was granted to Sir Will. Kingston; from whose family it passed, about 1608, to Abr. Clerke, Esq; and then to his near relation Mr. Bovey. There was a forge for iron in the forest, which bel. to this abbey.
