GERRARD'S-CROSS, (Buckinghamshire) near Chalfont, bet. Uxbridge and Amersham, is a fine seat of the D. of Portland; whose
ancestor the E. of Portland, so created by K. Will. built and endowed a ch. sc. here, where 20 boys and 15 girls are
taught and cloathed, and 2 of the children put out apprentices every year.
