GRANDBY, (Nottinghamshire) on the S.E. side of Bingham, was anciently the seat of the Lds. Deincourt, from whose family it passed in the R. of Henry VI. to William Ld. Lovel, whose descendant, Francis Ld. Lovel, forfeiting it by his treasons against Hen. VII. that K. granted this manor to Sir John Savage, whose descendant, the Ld. Visc. Savage, sold it to Sir John Manners, the ancestor of the present D. of Rutland, to whom it gives the title of Marquis. Here was anciently a Mt. as there is still a Fair Nov. 1.
