GREYSLEY, (Nottinghamshire) on the N.W. side of Nottingham, formerly bel. to the Cantelupes, in whose time the mansion- house was embattelled and called a castle. From them it descended to the Zouches; and by forfeiture of William Ld. Zouch came to the crown, in the R. of Hen. VII. who granted it to Sir John Savage, ancestor of the E. of Rivers; of whom it was purchased by Sir John Manners, ancestor of the present D. of Rutland.
