HADDEN-HALL, (Derbyshire) in the High-Peak, near Bakewel, was the ancient seat of the Vernons, one of whom, in the R. of Q. Eliz. viz. Sir Geo. Vernon, was so noted for his hospitality, that he was called the King of the Peak. It went from him by marriage of his daughter to the first Earl of Rutland's son, in whose posterity, since Ds. of Rutland, we hear it still continues, but that their noble palace here is uninhabited.
