HEMPSTED, (Essex) is a chapel of ease to Samford-Magna; wherein lie interred the Harveys, who had their seat here; and particularly the famous Dr. Will. Harvey, who found out the circulation of the blood, upon whose monument is a long epitaph. Here was also a seat of the Mordounts, ancestors of the Es. of Peterborough; of whom Sir Rob. Mordaunt had the advowson of this chapel; from whom it passed to the Harveys of Chigwell.
