HINXWORTH, (Hertfordshire) in the most N. corner of the Co. near Ashwell, bel. in the R. of Edw. III. to Sir Henry Garnet, of Benington in Essex, and to Sir William le Baud of Little-Hadham. It was afterwards sold to Mr. Bowles of Standon, and afterwards to Jasper Smith of Bedfordshire, who in the R. of Q. Eliz. conveyed it to Mr. Norwood, of Pinner by Harrow on the Hill, who sold it to Tho. Drayner, of Hoxtan in Middlesex; and at last it came to Sir Drayner Massingberd. This manor, which is in the duchy of Lancaster, came, upon the death of the Lady Massingberd, to their son, who sold it to John Izzard, who left it to his son Robert.
