HOOTON, (Cheshire) on the S. W. of Frodsham, near Stanlaw, at the N. entrance of the Wirral, is a goodly manor, with a park, which has been the seat of the Stanleys ever since the R. of Cha. II. and is now that of Sir Rowland Stanley, Bt. Camden says, it fell to the Stanleys in the time of Rich. II.
