HURLEY, (Berkshire) on the Thames, 4 m. from Maidenhead, in the Oxford road, was the seat of the late Mr. Robert Gayer, as it was formerly that of the family of Lovelace, one of whom was by K. Cha. I. created Baron of Hurley; but it was afterwards sold to pay the debts of one of his successors, and was bought by Mr. Oakley for 41,000 l. Here was a mon. which was a cell to Westminster-Abbey. Mrs. Williams has a seat here.
