KENNARDINGTON, (Kent) near. Appledore, though not very healthy, has had very noble owners, even before and since it came by marriage to Sir Thomas Mackworth. His descendants sold it to the Hornes, of Horne-Place in Appledore, in whose family it continued till the R. of Q. Elizabeth, when the heiress-general matching with Mr. Gulford, a Roman Catholick, who went with her beyond sea, to avoid taking the oath of supremacy, forfeited it to the Q. who gave it to Walter Moyle, Esq;. Its Ch. being fired with lightning 200 years ago, a much less Ch. was afterwards built out of the material, chiefly at the expence of M. Horne, then Ld. of the manor.
