MERING, (Nottinghamshire) on the Trent, near Gresthorp, gave name to its ancient Lds. who continued in it, from the R. of
K. Stephen to Q. Eliz. and was afterwards sold to George E. of Shrewsbury; but has since bel. to the Ds. of Newcastle.
