MILCOTE, (Warwickshire) in the p. of Weston upon Avon in Glocestershire, bel. in the Saxons time to the See of Worcester, till it was wrested from it by the Danish K. Canute. Ralph Boteler, who was Ld. of this manor in the R. of K. Stephen, gave all the tithes of it to a priory he founded at Aulcester. From him it passed through several hands to the Grevilles of Camden in Glocestershire, and then to a younger branch of that family, from whence it went by marriage to Sir Arthur Ingram, who sold it to Lionel Earl of Middlesex, the ancestor of the present Ld. of the manor, his grace the D. of Dorsetshire
