NUTFIELD, (Surrey) or NORTHFIELD, near Blechingley, which formerly bel. to Waverley-Abbey, was the manor of the late Joseph Cook, Esq; and in this p. Mr. Geo. Evelyn had a seat, and a good estate. In a red sandy common here, there is a metalline kind of substance (that looks like cast-iron, and is called ragges) much esteemed hereabouts for paving; and there are several pits, from which they dig a great quantity of fuller's earth.
