OFLEY-LITTLE, (Hertfordshire) on the N. side of Great-Ofley, of which it was a hamlet, stands on the ledge of hills on the N. side of the Co. called by some the Alps of England, and is now reduced to one seat. In the R. of Hen. VIII. it was in the crown; and in the next R. was granted to Rich. Spicer, alias Helder; whose ancestors, indeed long before this estate was in the crown, held it by long leases from the R. of Hen. VI. It is now the estate of Mr. Helder's widow, who was the daughter of Mr. John Hind, of St. Andrew's, Holbourn, brewer.
