RUFFORD, (Nottinghamshire) N. E. of Mansfield, on the r. Maun, had formerly an abbey, to which the manor bel. but after
the Diss. became the manor and seat of Sir Geo. Savile, Bt. as it is now of his descendant of the same name. The late
Visc. Halifax, George Savile, much enlarged and adorned it; and several of our Ks. have been often entertained here, by
reason of its commodious situation for hunting in Sherwood-Forest.
