SOCK, (Somerset) 1 m. from Yeovil, where is a large pool in certain pastures that bel. to the late Mr. Philips of Montacute, at which pigeons often drink; but cattle will not touch its water, even in a time of the greatest drought. It has a brackish and very loathsome taste, looks, when put into a Venice glass, like cyder, when it is first clarified; and if boiled, yields a thick, vitriolick taste.
