SPELDHERST, (Kent) 3 m. S.W. of Tunbridge, whose wells are in its p. which is, in a manner all hills and dales, with deep vallies, and here and there craggy bare rocks. Over the porch of its Ch. are cut in stone the arms of the D. of Orleans, who was taken prisoner at the battle of Agincourt, by Richard Waller of Gromebridge, at whose house he was kept near 15 years, during which he was a good benefactor to the repair of the Ch. of Speldherst.
