STRATFORD AT BOW, (Middlesex) on the E. side of London, whose bridge over the Lea r. to Essex was built by Maud, wife of Henry I. as its old Ch. was by Henry II. had formerly a nunnery, founded by William the Norman, who was Bp. of London in the R. of the Conquerer. Its Ch. which was a chapel of ease to Stepney, was lately made parochial. This place is noted for a mf. of porcellain, lately erected. See Bow.
