STRETHALL, (Essex) on the N. W. side of Saffron-Walden, lies on the Ermin-Street, as it goes from Chichester to London.
'Tis is in the record reckoned a hamlet to Littlebury, and bel. with it heretofore to the mon. of Ely, as it did
afterwards to the Bp. In 1635, it was the estate of Robert Newport, and being mortgaged, was also sold to Edward Colston
of Bristol. Since his death, viz. in 1721, it has been the estate of Rob. Carr of Isleworth.
