SUTTON, (Essex) is a manor of Hornchurch, on the S. side of Hornchurch-Hall, which anciently bel. to a mon. at Caen in Normandy, but now to New-Coll. Oxford; on which it was settled by its founder, William of Wickham, who obtained the alienation of it, before the suppression of the alien priories. The Prujean's family have a seat near it.
