WETHERALL, (Cumberland) near Carlisle, was formerly a mon. bel. to St. Mary's-Abbey, York, which K. Hen. VIII. settled on
the D. and C. of Carlisle for ever. Near this place are to be seen a sort of cells dug out of the rock.
