Note for the Reader.

The present volume, which contains the second portion of the very important Register of St. Chad's, Shrewsbury, extends from the year 1717 to the year 1781 (Marriages to 1754), and includes the latter portion of Volume II, the whole of Volumes III and IV, and the first part of Volume V.

The eleven volumes of St. Chad's Register, from their commencement in 1616 to the year 1812, will he found in the printed Register as follows:-

It should be noted that in Vols. I and II of this Register, christened is often abbreviated "c.", buried "b.", and married "m."

Dr. Greenwood, the present Vicar of St. Chad's for facilities afforded in transcription and collation, and for leave to print the Register.
