PART II.
Note for the Reader.
The Council decided to issue a second and concluding Part, containing twelve more of the earliest of the Nonconformist Registers, making a total of twenty-two that have been printed by the Society. They were copied for the Society by Miss A.M. MacLeod. It is not proposed at present to print any others, as the remaining unprinted Registers are mainly quite modern, and commence in the nineteenth century, some only a few years before 1837.
The Registers of 56 Nonconformist Chapels are preserved at Somerset House. A complete list of these is now given, transcribed by Miss MacLeod from the list of Non-Parochial Registers, printed by the Government in 1859.
It should be noted that the twenty-two Registers printed by the Society have an asterisk prefixed to them in the following list. The dates of the beginning and ending of each Register are given in this list, and the year of the foundation of the several Chapels. The Indexes to the whole of these Registers were compiled by Miss MacLeod.
